Judging by the reaction of their response to Syrian refugees being potential terrorists, you’d think that the phrase “Keep Calm and Carry On” was unknown to the GOP. For a bunch of old white guys that insist on bombing the living daylights out of our enemies, and for seemingly endless pushes to get troops “on the ground, you might also think they’d have more spine than they are showing. First it was bomb Iran’s nuclear labs, when even the best army guys have said it was fruitless, and all it would do is inflame the region even more. Then it was Ebola where it was stated that we should not even let US citizens back into the country for treatment for fear of the spread of the disease. And now the Syrian refugees as a potential army of terrorists. I have come to the conclusion that the reason for this fatalist attitude is simply political. After all the world has to be seen to be collapsing while Obama is there. If it wasn’t then there is nothing to bitch about. The trouble is, it makes the GOP leadership seem like an army of cry babies. I would have thought someone would have the balls to say, “Snap out of it. The risk so low that you have a better chance of being run over by a one legged man riding a unicycle that being blown up by a Syrian refugee.” But of course no one will say that. Meanwhile it makes me want a grown up in the GOP more than ever.
